I am always surprised when a client asks if Gahanna Animal Hospital provides certain services. I guess I’m surprised by these questions for a couple reasons. One, I thought everyone knew who we were and what all we do. Two, I thought we advertised the services we offer everywhere and that they were read by everyone! Well, I guessed wrong. So, let me set the record straight, Gahanna Animal Hospital is truly a full service animal hospital and I’m proud to share why!
Of course we see cats and dogs, but we also see “pocket pets”. These pets don’t necessarily fit in a pocket, it’s just a nickname for a category of pets. Pocket pets seen by our vets include, rabbits, ferrets, hamsters, gerbils, mice and rats. Dr. Worman will also do nails, wings and beak trims on birds, but not sick visits; we recommend the aviary specialists at Med Vet or OSU for that.
So now that you know what type of clients we see for appointments, let me brag some about our services we offer. As with most animal hospitals, we see pets for well visits and sick appointments. We are able to do digital x rays, dental x rays, dentals, blood work, surgeries, and fill prescriptions, right here on the premises. We also offer artificial insemination, acupuncture and assistance with behavioral issues. But these aren’t the services we’re usually questioned about. We offer more than all this you ask?! Yes, there’s more!
I’ll start with boarding. For our canine friends, we offer six different size options among our kennels and runs. For our felines, we have a room set up just for them, with a quieter atmosphere. We encourage our pet owners to come in for a tour of the facility, so they can see for themselves, how their fur-baby will be cared for while Mom and Dad are away. And just to give you a heads up, if you plan to board for a holiday, call at least a month in advance to reserve your spot. If you happen to be the owner of a pocket pet and need a babysitter for them, ask one of the Client Care Representatives at the front desk for a referral and you’ll most likely end up with a few options to choose from.
Another service we offer for cats and dogs is grooming. Our groomer, Melissa, has been grooming for over 25 years now, and has been with us since 2007. We really don’t advertise our grooming at all because, honestly, our grooming business is booming! Especially this time of the year, when the temperature is rising and the hair hasn’t been trimmed all winter long. Right now, our groomer is booking almost 3 weeks ahead and as the temperature rises, it might become an even longer wait. Hence, why we don’t advertise grooming, but at least now you know we CAN! As for the doggies that don’t need a haircut or shaved down, our kennel techs can do just a bath and toenail trim. These are also done by appointment only, but usually have less of a wait than a grooming appointment.
Do we offer training? Yes, for puppies we do! Our puppy training classes are for puppies between the ages of 7 – 16 weeks old. The class consists of one hour of training, per week, for four weeks. The class welcomes all family members to help with teaching your puppy basic commands, how to walk on a leash, socialization skills and more. We normally have a new class starting every 6 weeks.
G.A.H. also offers doggie daycare! We have many “regulars” that come and play, day after day and we’re always looking for new friends to play with! Doggie daycare is available to dogs of any age that are current on all vaccines, including a 6 month bordatella. For the safety of all involved, dogs must be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age, to continue using our daycare.
Now that I have touched base on the majority of the services that we offer, let me know what other services you would like to see at G.A.H. We would love to hear any ideas you might have. Feel free to leave a comment or contact us to tell us more.
